Bhubaneswar: Golden Baba alias Jyotiranjan Beura, the alleged fraudster arrested by the Commissionerate Police on December 31 last year for duping a resident of Barbil in Keonjhar district, has been brought on one-day remand by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Crime Branch on Saturday.

Reportedly, the EOW had moved the SDJM Court in Bhubaneswar to take Beura on remand for three days but the court granted only one-day remand.

The Commissionerate Police had recently requested the DGP for a probe by the EOW in the case as it was pertaining to financial transactions amounting to some crores which needed effective investigation for proper prosecution.

Based on direction of the DGP, the EOW took over the probe of two major frauds registered by Chandrasekharpur and Laxmisagar police stations of Rs 12.04 crores and 4.5 crores respectively. Two inspectors of the EOW are investigating the cases separately.

Briefing media, Odisha Crime Branch ADG Santosh Kumar Upadhyay had earlier said that EOW would look into all angles and aspects of the case including suspected transcations, money trailing and trading activity of Beura.
