Odisha: Couple Trampled To Death By Wild Jumbo In Dhenkanal

Dhenkanal: Jumbo scare has surfaced in Odisha yet again as a couple was trampled to death by a herd of elephants near Dudhakateni canal under Dhenkanal Sadar forest range here today morning.

The deceased have been identified as Dambaru Pradhan and his wife Sukanti of Ramei village. Reportedly, the couple was returning to their house on a bike after witnessing Dola Jatra. Their way was intercepted by a herd of wild elephants that attacked them on a canal bridge this morning.

Irate locals have demanded compensation and have also alleged that elephant death cases are rising in the area as forest officials are not taking cognizance of the matter.
