Kandhamal: A pall of gloom descended upon the non-descript village of this tribal-dominated district when a poor tribal couple got electrocuted to death on the spot while plucking mangoes from a roadside tree today.

The tragic incident has occurred in Bandhagada village under Phiringia police station limits while the deceased have been identified as Dasarath Bhukta and his wife Sarojini.

Dasarath and Sarojini were busy collecting mangoes from the roadside tree with the help of a long stick (perhaps not dry) when it accidentally came in contact with the nearby live electric wire and they got killed on the spot.

Phiringia police rushed to the spot, conducted inquest of the bodies and sent it for post mortem while further investigation was still on.
