Bhubaneswar: Just two months after a cop was transferred for taking a selfie with a murder accused, yet another selfie of a police officer with an arrested fraud is going viral.

The accused Papu Kumar Singh was accused of misappropriation of company funds amounting to Rs 8 lakhs, forging documents, and duping people with promises of providing a job, said police report. He was evading arrest for a while now.

Papu was working with a company which handled ground operations at the Biju International airport, Bhubaneswar. Not only was he involved in serious financial irregularity but also instigated his colleagues in following suit, said the FIR against Papu.

Based on a tip-off, two Sub Inspectors from Airfield Police Station in Bhubaneswar had gone to Uttar Pradesh to nab the fraud. After arrest, they reportedly clicked a selfie with the accused which somehow reached the social media circles. It has been garnering severe flak for apparent lack of responsibility and sense of duty which is expected from a police officer.

Anup Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar refused to comment on the matter.

In a similar incident that occurred two months ago on October 15, disciplinary action was taken against an IIC of Chandrabhaga Marine Police for clicking a selfie with a murder accused. He was transferred to Puri District Police Headquarters.
