Malkangiri: A large number of Congress workers gheraoed Malkangiri police station protesting the alleged assault of a youth leader by a senior police officer.

According to reports, local SDPO KR Dhyandeo allegedly manhandled a Youth Congress leader Rabi Rajesh which led to the tension.

The incident reportedly occurred during an election campaign organised by the Congress party at Markapali. Chhattisgarh Minister Kawasi Lakhma also joined the rally.

While Rajesh was proceeding towards the helipad to garland Kawasi he was intercepted by the SDPO and a scuffle ensued between the two, said sources.
