Bhubaneswar: Mahila Congress president Sumitra Jena today levelled serious allegations against Odisha PCC president Niranjan Patnaik over allocation of poll tickets.

According to Jena, Odisha Congress has become Patnaik Congress in which elections tickets were widely distributed to goons. "Liqour mafia, mining mafia and businessmen who have no link with social service were allotted ticket by the PCC president," she said.

Jena is peeved because Patnaik ignored a list of 54 elgible women candidates who according to her deserved tickets. However, the PCC president considered a meagre five names.

"We were told that eligible women candidates are not there. I gave an elaborate list of candidates who fulfilled all criteria but they were ignored," said Jena.

“All these candidates were educated and politically sound. Probably what they lacked was a liquor or mining business, which is why my list was sidelined by the PCC leadership,” said Jena.
