Bhubaneswar: A day after retired Odisha cadre IAS officer and former Development Commissioner R. Balakrishnan was appointed Chief Adviser Special Initiatives and will be functioning as Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) Chief Adviser with immediate effect, the veteran bureaucrat is elated at being given yet again chance to serve the people.

Talking to media today, the well-experienced and talented IAS officer said, “Working for Odisha is certainly not new to me. For the last 35 years I have been here. I’ll be happy if I serve in the best possible way in the team.”

“Already the list of Special Initiatives is there in place. Whatever will be decided, I’ll be a part of the team now,” beamed the veteran bureaucrat.

Notably, the Odisha Government led by its five-time Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik issued an official order on the occasion of Independence Day that mentioned, “Shri R. Balakrishnan, IAS (Retd.) Chief Adviser Special Initiatives will also function as Chief Adviser Chief Minister Office with immediate effect”.
