Odisha CM Visits Ganjam, Lays Foundation For Rs 172 Cr Worth Harbhangi Irrigation Project Expansion

Berhampur: Close on the heels of dedicating Gopalpur Port in the district, invested and expanded at Rs 2,000 crore, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also laid foundation for expansion of Harbhangi irrigation project today during his visit to Ganjam.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the expansion of Harbhangi irrigation project will be at an estimated cost of Rs 172 crore to enable irrigation on 3763 ha (hectares) of arable land in 32 villages under Sheragada and Aska blocks in Ganjam district.

The Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for 24 piped water supply projects for four blocks in the district. 11 piped water supply projects to be built in Sheragada and Hinijili blocks.

At Sheragada venue, he also laid foundation stones for improvement of Karamanganala road under Hinjili block and a bridge to be constructed over Baghua river along Brahmanachhai-Bolsara road stretch.

At the Sanakhemundi venue, the Chief Minister also laid foundation stones for 13 piped water supply projects meant for Dharakot and Sanakhemundi blocks.

Besides addressing the public, he also distributed assistance to the beneficiaries under various welfare schemes.
