Koraput: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated 31 developmental projects worth Rs 1136.41 crores and laid foundation stones for 94 projects to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 749 crores for the people of this tribal-dominated district of southern Odisha.
The 31 inaugurated projects are Telengiri medium irrigation project, 41 Anganwadi centres across the district, drinking water supply project for Jeypore, pipe water supply projects for Kotpad NAC, Nandapur, Lamtaput, Kundra, Dasamantapur and Bandhugaon blocks, 132/33 KV grid sub-station at Patangi, high level bridge on Kolab river in Semiliguda, Mukhya Mantri Sadaka Yojana road in Patangi, 100-seated girls’ hostel for Kumbhari Sebashram in Narayanpatna, 100-seated ST & SC students girls’ hostel of Laxmipur College, 120-seated girls’ hostel of Lamtaput Dr Ambedkar College, 120-seated boys’ hostel of Nandapur-Sindhedevi College, 100-seated ST & SC boys’ hostel of Sunabeda Deaf School, 300-seated two boys’ and girls’ hostel each of Koraput Government College, improvement of Sagar-Jallaput road under Lamtaput block and Vishakhapatna-Jeypore road, improvised 254 holy spots across Koraput district, Administrative and Academic building of Bamuniput +2 Science College, its 100-seated girls’ hostel, 300-seated boys’ hostel, library and four staff quarters, Bagderi mega lift irrigation project under Kundra block, 100-seated hostel at Bagderi and 100-seated hostel building of Doraguda Sebashram under Baipariguda block.
As per official sources, the inaugurated Telengiri medium irrigation project built at an estimated Rs 992.85 crores will amply benefit the people of this tribal-dominated district. This will cater to the irrigational needs of 9952 hectares of agricultural land of 52 villages under Jeypore and Borigumma blocks.
During his Koraput visit, the Chief Minister also distributed certificates to the landless slum-dwellers under the Jaga Mission of the State Government.
Accordingly, 12000 Jaga Mission beneficiaries of six districts were given away the certificates on the day. The 12000 Jaga Mission beneficiaries include: 9125 of Koraput district, 974 of Nabarangpur district, 392 of Bolangir district, 862 of Rayagada district, 228 of Boudh district and 419 of Nayagarh district.
After the distribution today, the scheme of the Odisha Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department will benefit now 18 lakh slum-dwellers of the NACs and Municipalities in the six districts. The eligible beneficiaries will not only get residential plots, but also house, pipe water, road, LED light, toilet and livelihood facilities.
Besides, the Chief Minister also distributed assets and benefits to the beneficiaries under various development schemes.
