Odisha CM’s Gajapati Visit: Mahendratanaya Irrigation System Foundation Laid, 57 Projects Inaugurated

Gajapati: In his whirlwind tour of the two adjacent districts of Ganjam and Gajapati today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated as well as laid foundations for a slew of projects.

While 57 projects, built at an estimated cost of Rs 48.84 crore, were inaugurated, foundation stones were laid for 783 development projects to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 582.40 crore.

The inaugurated projects were dedicated to the people of Kashinagar, Goshani, Gumma and Rayagada blocks.

Similarly, the foundation stones were laid for the projects worth Rs 190 crore for 103 villages under Kashinagar and Gumma blocks.

Over Rs 214 crore worth mega pipes water supply project for Mohana block, Mahendratanaya Irrigation System and other projects meant for Parlakhemundi, Goshani, Gumma, Kashinagar, Mohana, Nuagada, Rayagada and R. Udaygiri blocks and also for the NAC areas.

Reaching Garabandha venue on the occasion, the Chief Minister laid foundation stone for the Mahendratanaya Irrigation System.

He also addressed the KALIA Convention of farmers.

As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Rs 25 crore budgetary allocation has been made for the purpose. 1072 ha (hectares) of agricultural land of 8 villages under Rayagada and Goshani blocks in Gajapati district will be irrigated by this Mahendratanaya Irrigation System.
