Bhubaneswar: While filing the nomination paper for contesting assembly polls in Odisha from Hinjili constituency for the fifth consecutive time, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik submitted an affidavit stating that he owned assets worth over Rs 63.87 crore.
This includes movable properties of Rs 2326554.52 (23.2 lakh) and immovable inherited properties valued at over Rs 636415261 (63.6 crore). The immovable properties include those owned by Patnaik jointly with his brother and sister, stated the affidavit.
The immovable assets grew from Rs 11.88 crore to Rs 63.64 crore, in the last five years. Similarly, the movable assets rose from Rs 17.75 lakh to Rs 23. 26 lakh.
In his Income tax Return, Patnaik has shown his total annual income as Rs 21,17,223 (21.17 lakh) in his Income Tax return for 2017-18. His annual income was Rs 14,84,617 (14.8 lakh) and Rs 12,96,944 (12.9 lakh) respectively in 2016-17 and 2015-16. The affidavit stated that sources of his income are bank interest and salary.
Currently, he has only Rs 25,000 cash in hand. He also owns a car, an Ambassador of 1980 model, is valued at around Rs 8905. He also possesses jewellery weighing 45.770 gram worth about Rs 2,12,252 (2 lakh).
He has Rs 20 lakh in five bank accounts at New Delhi, Bhubaneswar and Hinjilikatu branches, stated reports. The BJD supremo has also shown a farm land and building at Tikri Khera in Faridabad. With total area of 22.7 acres, the current market value of the land is Rs 10,75,51,071 (10.75 crore).
He also owns two-third share of Naveen Niwas and 50 per cent share of a property situated at APJ Abdul Kalam Road in New Delhi. While the market value of Naveen Niwas is around Rs 9.52 crore, the house in New Delhi has been valued at Rs 43.36 crore.
He has no pending criminal case in his name in any court and interestingly he has to repay Rs 15 lakh loan that he had availed from sister Gita Mehta.
