Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off the campaign vans, to spread awareness on the the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme, 'KALIA Rath' from the Aerodrome Area in Bhubaneswar today.

Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Cooperation Department, Krishan Kumar, said in total 150 KALIA Raths will be deployed for the programme. While 20 vans were rolled out today, rest 130 will be following soon.

The vans will tour all panchayats across Odisha for a month and spread awareness about the provisions for support and assistance of farmers under the KALIA scheme and other agricultural development schemes.

Each KALIA Rath has been equipped with a LED screen where various audio-visual for creating awareness and Information, Education and Communication (IEC) will be displayed, said Kumar.

Besides, there are various other activities including performance by local troupes who will spread knowledge about the scheme through traditional arts of Odisha, he added.

Reportedly, the Department of Co-operation has been entrusted by the State Government to popularize KALIA Scheme through Krushak Sampark Abhiyan. Likewise, the KALIA Rath campaign is being run by the Odisha State Agriculture Marketing (OSAM) Board.
