Bhubaneswar: As announced scholarships to the meritorious students on the august occasion of Children’s Day-2017 under the ‘Mo School’ programme, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today disbursed ‘Mukhyamantri Medhabruti’, ‘Odia Bhasa Bruti’, ‘Biju Yuba Sashktikaran Yojana-Laptop for 2018-19’, felicitation of the schools, parents and teachers.

Also the Chief Minister dedicated today Odisha State Wide Network (OSWAN) Centre in 314 Block offices so that the people reap the maximum benefits.

The CM in his video conferencing speech said, “On November 14, 2017, I had announced ‘Mo School’ programme. On the occasion, I had announced five prizes for our high school students. They are Mukhyamantri Medhabruti, Odia Bhasa Bruti, schools recording good results in HSC Exams, also the teachers of the schools and the felicitation of the parents.”

He stated, “The aim of these prizes are meant for studying well, loving our language and be the best. I’m very happy that our students are awarded for good results in the exams. Congratulations to you all. March ahead with strong determination. I’m with you. The blessings of your parents and teachers are with you all.”

He added, “Also today Yuba Sashktikaran Yojana-Laptops were presented to the students having fared well in the +2 exams. Congratulations to all those students.”

He also informed, “Today all the blocks of Odisha got connected with OSWAN (Odisha State Wide Network). This will specially facilitate the people to reap more the service delivery.”

The Odisha Chief Minister concluded with “Happy Diwali” wishes to all.

Briefing media later, Odisha School and Mass Education Secretary Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said, “On November 14, 2017 (Children’s Day), the spectacular ceremony was held at Capital Hospital Ground. Hon’ble Chief Minister had taken some significant decisions linked with our department. Especially to encourage the students taking the Matric Exams, these scholarships were announced. For these scholarships, our department is spending approximately Rs 32 crore.”

He added, “First one is Mukhyamantri Medhabruti. Under this scheme, around 100 students have passed the 2018 Matric Exams in every block. It means 31,400 students of 314 blocks. 100 students from each Municipal Corporation area, 50 students from each Municipality area and 20 from each NAC area. Hence, 35,490 students will receive this prize.”

He also stated, “Each of the awardees will get Rs 5000 credited to their bank accounts. The money has already deposited to the accounts. Today, the Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated it.”

“To encourage the students for Odia language, under the Bhasa Bruti the students having scored highest marks in Odia will be awarded. From block and Municipal Corporation 10 students each while from each municipality area 5 students and from each NAC 2 students. Under this scholarship, around 3,549 students will be awarded. In this also, Rs 5,000 prize money to each,” the School and Mass Education Secretary informed.

Under the Biju Yuba Sashktikaran Yojana for 2018-19, 15,000 meritorious students of +2 Exams were also given away laptops.

Besides, 1061 best schools, the parents, teachers were awared with Rs 1 lakh each school under the ‘Abhibhabaka O Utkrustha Vidyalaya Prothsahana Puraskar’.
