Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday inaugurated the newly-constructed Kharavel Bhawan in the State Capital.

Offices of as many as 11 departments of the State Government will function in the building. It also houses press briefing room, a lounge and conference hall for the Chief Minister.

Kharavel Bhavan has been built on an area of 8.3 acres at Unit-5 area in the City at a cost of Rs 128 crore. The building with eight floors has two parts - the West Wing and East Wing.

The East Wing accommodates:

Industries Department;

Energy Department;

Labour and ESI Department;

Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department;

Skill Development & Technical Education Department.

The West Wing houses:

Electronics & IT Department;

Science & Technology Department;

Commerce & Transport Department.

The Forest & Environment Department and Housing and Urban Development Departmen are housed in both the Wings.

This apart, today the State Secretariat was formally rechristened as Lok Seva Bhavan. An announcement on renaming the Secretariat was done earlier.
