Odisha CM Inaugurates High-Performance Centre For Athletes At Kalinga Stadium

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday inaugurated a High-Performance Centre at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar to create easy access to all sportspersons of Odisha and its neighboring States to world-class equipment.

Established by Abhinav Futuristics Private Limited under the brand Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance the centre is all ready to inspire athletes. The center's services would include Performance Enhancement, Injury Prevention, and Management, Bio-mechanics, Physiology Testing & Training, Recovery, as well as Strength and Conditioning Training.

Speaking about the inauguration, Patnaik said, “The inauguration of this HPC will encourage athletes to use Sports Science to enhance their performance. Coaching has always been good in Odisha, but now with best available technology, our athletes will have access to a state-of-the-art, world class sports medicine and rehab setup.”

Odisha Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera thanked Bindra for setting up the centre in Odisha in a record time frame of three months. He said that through the centre, which is the most advanced academy in country, players of various sports can enhance their performance and ability with help of technology.

The founder of the ABTP Centre, Abhinav Bindra stated, "The ABTP Centre's have been made with the aim of encouraging athletes to use Sports Science to add value to their training routine. With cutting edge technology from all over the world in physiology, biomechanics, functional training and recovery we aspire to take the best care of the athletes with us.”

Odisha Sports Secretary Vishal Dev informed all the athletes including 1000 players residing is 16 sports hostels in Odisha will be brought phase-wise to the centre and a database of their performance will be created. Later, they will be brought twice annually and get their data updated to know about their progress.

He further said that, the State Government will also approach sports associations of other States and national federations so that athletes from across the country can avail the facilities in the centre. While the facilities will be free for Odisha athletes, it will be chargeable for others.

Dev further informed that though the master trainer at the centre will be sent by Abhinav Futuristics Private Limited, some local staff will also be empowered gradually to impart training.

Director of the centre, Digpal Singh Ranawat said, “Our motto is to create future Olympic champions in next four to five years from the State. When we talk about high-performance training in India or Sports Science the developed countries are way ahead and our athletes have been struggling when it comes to injury prevention and management and quantify how their performance would be. But now with our centre its possible where we have the most advanced recovery equipment.”
