Kandhamal: Odisha Chief Minister visited this tribal-dominated district today and addressed a huge gathering of the farmers and women Self Help Groups (SHGs) as a part of the ongoing KALIA & MISSION SHAKTI Samavesh (convention).

He re-assured the gathering that the second installment of KALIA financial assistance will be deposited to the bank accounts of all the left out beneficiary farmers from April 1 while the list has already been displayed at every panchayat till March 20.

Reaching the meeting venue of Mahasingh village under K. Nuagaon block here, the Chief Minister in his address said, “Mission Shakti women brigade know well that you are availing zero percent loan. Similarly, the KALIA Yojana beneficiary farmers are also availing zero percent loan.”

“My government is always behind the farmers and poor people. Our KALIA Yojana has shown path to the entire country. Lakhs of farmers have received assistance under the KALIA Yojana. Even sharecroppers, landless farmers and farm labourers have all received the assistance. Those farmers who have not yet received assistance, their list has been sent to the panchayat office. This list will be with the panchayat office till March 20. They will all receive the assistance. Not a single eligible farmer will be deprived of this benefit. I’m keeping a strict vigil on it,” the Chief Minister reiterated.

Earlier to the Chief Minister’s speech, BJD leader Kuna Tripathy informed the public that there was Yuva Samavesh here in Kandhamal last month during which demands were raised for three development projects and the Chief Minister had instantly nodded. Prompt action has been taken and the State Government has issued notification for the works to be started within 20 days.

“The three projects to be undertaken are that of Raikia-Manikeswara-Korada road construction at an estimated cost of Rs 16 crore, Kandhamal to Gadimaska road construction at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 11 crore and construction of bridge over Salki river along Deraguda-Nuaripadar road stretch under Biju Setu Yojana at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore,” he stated.

He further informed the public here that the Chief Minister has also announced Rs 1 crore more assistance in addition to the previous Rs 2.5 crore for the further growth of world famous turmeric business undertaken by Kandhamal Apex Society for Agriculture and Marketing (KASAM).
