Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off 'Pashyantu', eye care diagnostic Vehicle at his residence Naveen Nivas here today.
Pashyantu, is a joint eye health initiative by LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) and Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC).
The vehicle is equipped with ultra-modern equipment to provide on-spot advanced diagnostic with regard to eyes to all sections of the people.
This mobile unit will provide treatment to patients at secondary centres in Keonjhar, Berhampur, Rayagada, and Rajgangpur.
This is a pilot project and the facility will be later extended to other places in phases.
"Today is the beginning of yet another new chapter in LV Prasad Eye Institute's journey in the State of Odisha. I believe with this we are able to take the highest possible diagnostic facilities related to eye care to remotest parts of Odisha covering all our secondary centres in Rajgangpur to Rayagada, Berhampur, Keonjhar etc. And as we expand more into the State of Odisha several such initiatives will be seen in the future," stated Dr. G N Rao, Chairman, LV Prasad Eye Institute speaking to reporters on the occasion.
"Whatever advanced diagnostic techniques are required normally people go to big cities for that. We are trying to take the care as much as possible to the doorstep of the people in the remotest areas," he added.
Dr. Rao said that in future once things start going more such vans will be added.
