Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today flagged off operation of air-conditioned (Rajdhani) Deluxe bus services on 18.1.2019 in a function held in the premises of the Paribahan Bhawan here in the capital city.

Initially, 23A/C Deluxe buses will ply on the routes of Bhubaneswar-Phulbani, Bhubaneswar-Rourkela, Bhubaneswar-Bhawanipatna, Bhubaneswar-Bhanjanagar, Bhubaneswar-Rajgangpur (via-Sundargarh), Bhubaneswar-Rajkhariar (via-Balangir), Bhubaneswar-Gorumahisani (via-Karanjia) and Bhubaneswar-Burla(via-Sambalpur). Rest of the districts will be covered very shortly, a press note said.

The passengers will have free wi-fi, CCTV, mobile phone charging including GPS tracking and drinking water bottles on board. The tickets for Rajdhani Express can be booked on line and through mobile app on smart phones.

Besides, four VOLVO buses have been launched for plying from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata and Paradeep to Vizayawada.

At present 429 OSRTC buses are operating in all the 30 districts and in 43 interstate route covering Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.

This state-owned corporation (OSRTC) has distinction of plying more buses in Left Wing Extremist (LWE) affected districts for the benefit of the common people.

It has also taken up construction of five new bus stands at Jeypore, Bolangir, Angul, Bamara and Odagaon, and has renovated 25 existing bus stands for benefit of the passengers.

It is also going to construct 50 more bus stands at the block level.

Prominent among others, the special function was also attended by State Commerce & Transport Minister Dr Nrusingha Charan Sahu, Tourism Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Bhubaneswar MP Dr Prasanna Kumar Patasani, Bhubaneswar (Middle) MLA Bijaya Kumar Mohanty, Bhubaneswar(North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra, Bhubaneswar, Agriculture Production Commissioner Gagan Kumar Dhal, Commerce & Transport Principal Secretary G. Srinivas, OSRTC Chairman Cum-Managing Director K.B. Singh and IRTS CRC & Commerce & Transport Special Secretary Manoj Kumar Mishra.
