Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today felicitated the 19-member skating team of Berhampur Skating Academy for having its name entered in Guinness World Records by skating non-stop for 48 hours.
Patnaik, Sports Minister Tushar Kanti Behera and senior government officials felicitated the skaters at the Lok Seva Bhawan here today.
“Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and the Sports department today congratulated this team from Berhampur for its feat. The team has set a world record in the Guinness World Records by skating non-stop for 48 hours at an international event held in Karnataka,” said Sports Minister Tushar Kanti Behera talking to the media after the felicitation ceremony.
“We 19 skaters including our coach Bibhuti Bhusan Jena from Berhampur Skating Academy had skated 48 hours non-stop at a skating rally event held in Karnataka in 2018 November” said T Koel, a member of the team. We have now received the official certificate from Guinness World Records.
“We had come to seek the blessings of the Chief Minister so that in future too we can bring laurels for Odisha in the world of skating. Recently, we had taken part in DID season II in skate dance from Berhampur, the show is currently on-air. Please bless us so that we can achieve more in future,” she added.
