Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief at the loss of lives and massive damage to property in West Bengal due to Cyclone Amphan, said a press note issued by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
"The people of Odisha stand with the people West Bengal at this hour of crisis said Patnaik," the press note stated.
The press note further said that the Chief Minister has also directed the Chief Secretary to be in touch with his West Bengal counterpart and extend all possible support.
As many as 72 precious lives were lost and extensive damage to property was caused in the neighbouring State under the impact of Cyclone Amphan which pummeled the State with wind speed reaching up to 175 kmph.
