Bhubaneswar: Amid the tug of war between BJD Government’s mega healthcare scheme “Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana” and BJP-ruled Centre’s “Ayushman Bharat Yojana”, BJD supremo-cum-Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today made it loud and clear that the State Government’s own health scheme is far better than that of the Centre’s much touted counterpart.

Addressing BJD's ongoing ‘Jana Sampark Yatra’ at Mandap Basti (slum) in Gadakana here in the capital city today, the regional satrap averred, “Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana is our historic step. Both BPL and APL will reap the benefit. Our Yojana is far better than Ayushman Bharat.” Lampooning PM Modi’s pet scheme Ayushman Bharat, CM Naveen questioned, “Does disease come only to BPL card holder? Does accident come to BPL card holder? One who has no BPL card, what will he do? Our State Government stands by those who are even without BPL card. The State Government is for u all.”

Naveen Patnaik quipped, “Only BPL card holders are entitled to reap benefits from Ayushman Bharat. But, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana caters to the needs of all. Our Yojana is for all. The people of Odisha will also get treatment facility outside the State. The people of Odisha staying outside will also get this facility.”

Beginning his speech, he said, “Our Padayatra that began from October 2 is faring well across the State. Hence, I would like to convey my thanks to our party workers. Biju Janata Dal ‘sarkar’ (BJD Government) is the symbol of trust for 4.5 crore people of Odisha. We’re always with the people and working for them. We believe in deeds not in words.”

He also reminded up the party workers saying, “I had earlier told you about our four subjects. No1-Food Security, No 2-Ghara, No 3- Swasthya and No 4-social security.”

“Lots of eligible beneficiaries were devoid of these four benefits by the Central Government. It hurt me very much. With the public money of the people of Odisha, we started Biju Pucca Ghar, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana, State Food Security Scheme and Madhu Babu pension and several other social security schemes,” stated the Odisha Chief Minister.

The BJD chieftain concluded, “We have taken lots of steps for the welfare of poor slum dwellers. The aim of Biju Janata Dal is development of all. We’ll keep on working in this direction.”
