Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today exhorted students of Utkal University to create global benchmarks and make their presence felt.
"As Odisha is now moving on the path of an unprecedented development process creating global benchmarks in many fields, I would call upon you to join this movement making your presence felt at all levels of success and achievements," said Patnaik wishing the students a very bright future ahead while addressing the Varsity's inaugural function to mark its platinum jubilee celebrations.
The Chief Minister said that youth are the real potential of a nation.
Their education, knowledge, creativity, innovation abilities and an undaunted spirit to conquer the world will decide the future of the nation, he added.
Improving the quality of education at all levels was the top priority of his government, Patnaik pointed out.
"The Government of Odisha has sanctioned Rs 100 crore to Utkal University for opening six Centres of Excellence. The University has already received Rupees 40 crore in the current academic year," the Chief Minister said.
Besides, funds have also been provided for the infrastructure development of the University, he added.
Remembering the contribution of Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati, Pandit Nilakantha Das and Pandit Godabaris Mishra among others who visualised the capitalisation of the State’s intellectual resources through Utkal University, Patnaik said "I pay my sincere tributes to these great sons of Odisha on this occasion".
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Central Instrumentation Centre and Digital Library building of the university.
He also laid the foundation stone for the boundary wall project.
Among others, Higher Education Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo, Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority Subrato Bagchi spoke on the occasion.
