Odisha CM Emphasises On Road Safety Awareness

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday held a meeting with Collectors, SPs and RTOs of all districts and directed them to spread awareness among people for road safety.

While the CM has granted a relaxation of three months for implementation of the amended Motor Vehicle Act, he stressed on minimising fatalities due to road mishaps.

Quoting the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy said, "Our CM directed the district administration, RTOs and the Transport Department to utilise this three month moratorium for creating awareness among vehicle owners."

The youth of our state are the most valuable resource. Death due to a road accident is a tragedy for the family as well as a financial setback for the State, the CM said at the meeting.

During the video conferencing with the district administration, Naveen directed for effectively utilising the Road Safety Fund within this three month period and ensuring that traffic safety becomes a culture for people with vehicles on the roads.
