Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have condoled the death of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who died following a cardiac arrest on Tuesday night.
"Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of #SushmaSwaraj ji . She was a warm, respected and a learned leader. She was known to take personal interest even in smallest of people's problem. Her departure has left a void in Indian politics. My heartfelt condolences to her family," tweeted Patnaik on Wednesday morning.
At around 9.30 PM on Tuesday, Swaraj had been admitted to AIIMS in New Delhi in a critical condition after suffering a heart attack. The doctors at the premier medical institute tried to save her but she passed away at around 10 PM.
Her body has been taken to her residence at 6, Jantar Mantar from the AIIMS. Her mortal remains would be kept at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters from 11 AM to 1 PM today so that people can pay their last respects.
