Bhubaneswar: Even though BJD has already moved the Election Commission of India (ECI) at New Delhi protesting against the blocking of KALIA assistance disbursal to the farmers by Odisha Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) allegedly under BJP’s pressure, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today drove straight to the CEO here in a bid to lodge his complaint personally.

In his media reactions soon after meeting the CEO, Naveen said, “I had come here to see the Chief Electoral Officer about his strong complaint and stopping our Government’s KALIA scheme for the farmers.”

He burst, “This is most unfortunate as they haven’t stopped the agricultural scheme of the Central Government. Also, the scheme (KALIA) is very important for the farmers, particularly during the season when they require those funds desperately.”

“I’m also very disappointed to see that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has complained to the Election Commission about the KALIA scheme. The farmers will give them a befitting reply,” the BJD supremo fumed.

Meeting the CEO, the Odisha Chief Minister urged the CEO to pave the path for release of the blocked KALIA assistance to farmers within two weeks.
