Bhubaneswar: This Diwali was special for children of SOS Village on city outskirts as a Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited the place to celebrate the festival with the inmates.
Naveen visited the SOS Children’s Village, Bhubaneswar, one of the biggest orphanage in the State, in the evening and spent quality time with the
children. The Chief Minister fired crackers and exchanged pleasantries with the little children who were delighted to have the special guest.
The Chief Minister distributed sweets and gifts among the children. Before leaving the place Naveen announced a special package of Rs 20 lakh as financial assistance for development of SOS Village.
Secretary Transformation and Initiatives (5T), VK Pandian accompanied the Chief Minister to the orphanage on the occasion.
Earlier in the day, Naveen advised senior officials including chief secretary, development commissioner, agriculture production commissioner and senior officers of his CMO to visit child care institutions and celebrate Diwali with the children.
The district collectors were advised to visit the orphanage in their respective districts to celebrate Diwali with the inmates.
