Keonjhar: In his visit to Keonjhar today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a scholarship scheme for the children of KALIA scheme beneficiaries at the farmers' convention. In the presence of over lakh farmers, the CM announced that the scholarship will be provided to students for undertaking several professional courses.
After inaugurating 64 new projects worth Rs 2166 crore, he addressed the farmers gathering and said, “State Government’s KALIA program is being widely loved by everyone. People across the nation are also appreciating the scheme. The scheme ensures the development of farmers and their children’s progress as well. I want that your children go on to become doctors, engineers, managers and lawyers. This is why I started the ‘KALIA Chhatra Brutti scheme’.”
“Under this scheme, State Government will bear the higher education expenses of children belonging to KALIA beneficiaries. This is for the students pursuing professional courses in Government colleges on merit basis. Quality education of your kids is the responsibility of the State Government,” he said.
The major announcement came after the Chief Minister inaugurated 17 projects worth Rs 66 crore and laid foundation stones for 47 projects worth Rs 2100 crore.He also provided assistance to farmers through direct bank transfer under State Government's flagship scheme- Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA). This was followed by the mega announcement that brought smiles in the faces of the farmers present at the venue.
