Nayagarh: A child marriage was successfully aborted in Ranpur area here on Saturday by the joint operation of Child Line and the local police. Two minor Class 10 students were about to be married off to each other on February 18 but concerned officials intervened at right time.

The wedding was to take place at Maninaga pitha in Ranpur and on getting information about this, Child Line officials rushed to have a conversation with the family members.

The authorities explained the circumstances to both the families and convinced them to cancel the marriage and go back home. With the help of cops, Child Line has already aborted five marriages this year.
