Bhubaneswar: In another step towards realization of the 5T charter of the State Government, the e-gazette portal was launched by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy from the Lok Seva Bhawan here on Wednesday. Launching the portal, he directed all departments to make use of the portal for all gazette notifications.

"E-Gazette is a milestone in Governance. The system while expediting the process of Gazette publication will make it error free and paperless. This will also save transportation of trucks of papers from Government Press to departments, districts and other quarters," said the Chief Secretary.

Presenting details of the system, Principal Secretary Commerce & Transport, G. Srinivas, said, "e-gazette will provide the facility for department wise and subject wise search of the notifications. One need not run to Government Press or Secretariat to get a copy of the Gazette. One can log on to http://egazetteodisha.nic.in to have it at his fingertips."

Special Secretary Commerce & Transport, Manoj Mishra, said, "Odisha gazette is a public journal and an authorized legal document of the Government of Odisha published weekly on every Friday. Extraordinary issues are also published on as and when required depending upon urgency of the matter for publication. E-gazette portal has been designed using information technology for making the government gazette eco-friendly. Such e-publication is also covered under Section-8 of IT Act, 2000 which provides it the legal status".

The presentation in the meeting showed that the user departments would register themselves in the portal. They would upload their content material which would be scrutinized by the Government Press as per the norms. The number and date of the gazette would also be there on the portal.

The electronic signature i.e. e-sign has been introduced for a better and secure authentication of the intending departments for avoiding the possibility of any manipulation in the contents. The system has been developed by NIC which is first of its kind in the country.

Development Commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Agriculture Production Commissioner PK Mohapatra along with Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Director of Government Printing Press and senior officers of various departments participated in launching of the Gazette.
