Odisha Cabinet Approves Plantation Along Baitarini, Brahmani, & Rusikulya, LED Streetlights In All ULBs

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Cabinet today accorded it seal of approval for ten important proposals and prominent among them are massive plantation along the both sides of the banks of Brahmani, Baitarani and Rushikulya rivers and LED streetkights in all the urban local boies (ULBs) in Odisha on PPP mode.

Soon after the significant Cabinet Meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today late afternoon at the State Secretariat here, Odisha Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi briefed the press on the proposals having received the nod.

As per the approved proposals, Plantation work will also be taken up along both sides of river Baitarani, Bhramani and Rushikulya rivers and their tributaries and distributaries for 2019-20. The left over area of Mahanadi, Tel and Ib will also be taken up in 2019-20.

Total outlay of the new scheme has been estimated at Rs 448 crores. The Chief Secretary also briefed that retrofitting of existing conventional street lights with LED lights across all ULBs will be made through Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL) that is a Government of India Enterprise.

He also informed that retrofitting of existing convetional street lights with LED lights across the five Municipal Corporations and implementation in Greenfield stretches in Bhubaneswar will be made on PPP mode through M/s NEESL Pvt Ltd.

It was also informed that the Cabinet also approved the proposal for replacement of existing conventional streetlights with energy efficient smart LED streetlights in ULBs of Odisha on Project Management Consultant (PMC) model.

Another significant proposal approved is that of the tender works for the construction of ‘100 seated New Government Medical College at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district’ on Turnkey Basis. The work will be completed in 2 (two) years of time without any price escalation.

The Odisha Cabinet also approved yet another significant proposal with regard to the tender works for ‘Construction of Multi Utility Complex and PG Students’ Hostel at Sardar Vallav Bhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (SVPPGIP), Shisu Bhawan, Cuttack on Turnkey Basis’.

The tender for this work was floated with an estimated cost of Rs 99.85 crore. The work will be completed in 2 (two) years of time without any price escalation.
