Gajapati: Two innocent kids in Mohana had no idea of the fate they were going to meet when they accompanied their mother for a bath in Domohuni River here today morning. In an unfortunate incident, the two kids drowned to death and a pall of gloom was cast over the area and the locals.

The deceased have been identified as six-year-old Soumya Swal Singh and her three-year-old Bishnu Swal Singh of Katama village under Adaba police limits.

The incident occurred when the duo had accompanied their mother for a bath in the river beside Mohana Sub-Station slum. The Swal Singh family was visiting from Adaba and was staying at the slum as guests in their relatives’ house, said sources.

Reportedly, the girl’s leg slipped and she started drowning and soon after the boy was also engulfed into the matter. Villagers rescued the bodies and rushed them to Mohana Medical, where the doctors declared them dead.
