Kalahandi: Taking a stand against hooliganism and alcoholism, a woman refused to accept a drunkard youth’s hand in marriage after he collapsed on consuming too much on his wedding day. This unusual incident took place in Dundelmal village of Junagarh area on Friday night.

Reportedly, Amit Nayak of Dharmagarh was getting married to one Dipanjali Nayak. Their marriage had been arranged after several meetings between the couple and the two families. On the night of wedding, Amit got a little too happy and danced his way to glory after consuming a lot of alcohol.

The effect of the liquor started showing when he reached the mandap and created a ruckus after losing control over his senses. On approaching the altar, the youth lost his senses and fell unconscious on the ground. Enraged by his behavior, Dipanjali decided to call off the wedding. Before the wedding rituals could be solemnized, she walked away from the groom. Despite several negotiations from family members, Dipanjali stood her ground and refused to take his hand in marriage.
