Ganjam: A mutilated body of a man, said to be a BJP worker, was found dead in Kadalijhola village under Sorada police limits here early today morning.

The deceased has been identified as Santosh Kumar Pati (28) of Lathipada panchayat. Reportedly, a scuffle had broken out between supporters of two political parties over removal of political posters in the village.

Santosh was thrashed to death with iron rods and lathis at around 8.30 pm by miscreants. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the Bhanjanagar sub-divisional hospital, where he was declared dead.

While locals have alleged murder due to political rivalry, the body has been recovered by cops and has been shifted to Bhanjanagar medical for post-mortem.

IIC of Sorada Police Station Prabhat Kumar Sahu said that the reason behind the death will be ascertained after investigation and in the meantime voting is peacefully underway in all booths of the area.
