Bhubaneswar: Alleging rigging in as many as nine booths of Athagarh Assembly segment, a Bharatiya Janata Party delegation led by Cuttack Lok Sabha candidate Prakash Mishra and party's State Vice-President Samir Mohanty urged the CEO for repoll in the booths.

Prakash Mishra said, “We knew from beforehand that problems would be created and booth-capturing would take place. There were no law and order arrangements in the area. Our agents were thrown out of the booth and outsiders entered the station. We have met the CEO and have given him a complaint as free and fair elections have not taken place.”

On the other hand, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, “You were the former DGP of Odisha. Was rigging happening or not when you were the administrator? If rigging was going on, then were you taking appropriate steps as per the law to stop it or not? When you were the former top cop, had you even once leveled allegation of BJD doing such a thing (rigging)? Such allegations were not heard from you then.”

“But now when you are a BJP MP candidate, you are obviously issuing such statements in favor of BJP. At that time, you used to keep mum because nothing of that sort was happening then or today. Today, you are alleging as you have vested political interests,” he concluded.
