Khurda: Bharatiya Janata Party's Khurda Mandal President and former Badapokharia Sarpanch Manguli Jena was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified miscreant near Nabina Bag area late last night.

The incident occurred near Khurda BJP MLA candidate Kalucharan Khadayat’s residence. As per reports, a bike-borne miscreant fired two rounds of bullets and killed Manguli Jena. On the other hand, eyewitness Kalucharan escaped unhurt.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has apprised the State Police DG about the matter and cops have assured strict action after further probe into the case.

The saffron party has called for Khurda bandh today from 8 am to 2 pm protesting the killing of Manguli Jena. The activists have also staged dharna in front of Town Police Station demanding immediate arrest of accused.
