Odisha: BJD Candidates Mahesh Sahu, Pratap Jena And Arun Sahu File Nominations

Bhubaneswar: BJD leaders Mahesh Sahu, Pratap Jena and Arun Sahu filed their nominations at Dhenkanal, Cuttack and Nayagarh respectively on Thursday. Over time, all three of them have built up extensive clout in their respective constituencies.

Mahesh, the senior most, is a four time MLA. Currently, representing the Pallahara seat, he has been elected from Talcher on three occasions since 1995. If Mahesh wins from Dhenkanal parliamentary seat, it will be his debut in the Lok Sabha.

"I am grateful to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for considering me as an eligible candidate from Dhenkanal. I would seek the blessings of the my consituents and commit them to carry forward the developmental programmes of BJD," he said.

Originally from the BJP, Mahesh quit the saffron party amidst rising differences with the then Deogarh MP Dharmendra Pradhan. He joined the BJD and was appointed as the Chairperson of Odisha State Warehousing Corporation. In 2014 he won from Pallahara on BJD ticket.

On the other hand, Jena has won the confidence of BJD leadership by successfully implementing a number of programmes which were introduced during his tenure as the Health and Family Welfare Minister. He also handled the Law and I and PR Departments efficiently since May 2017.

"Development of villages and panchayats will be my priority. This apart, I will ensure that the programmes and policies of BJD reach effectively to the remotest pocket of my constituency. I would urge the people of this State to give us another opportunity to serve them," Jena, BJD's Mahanga assembly constituency candidate said.

Arun Sahu held key protfolios in the BJD Government and post-2017 cabinet reshuffle discharged his responsibilities in strengthening the party at grassroots successfully. The former Utkal University student’s union president, Sahu said that the party has enormous support of the people in Nayagarh.

"I am indebted to the people of Nayagarh and pray God to give me the strength and ability to live up to their expectations," he said.
