Odisha: Biometric Attendance Mandatory For Higher Education Staff

Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education department of Odisha has ordered for implementation of biometric attendance system for its employees serving at the Lok Seva Bhawan here.

Higher Education department's Commissioner-cum-Secretary Saswat Mishra has issued a notification on Monday in this regard.

The notification says that the office order comes into effect from the date of its issue i.e. Monday.

According to the notification every employee is required to record his/her 'office in' as well as 'office out'time in the biometric attendance recording device.Non-recording of 'office in'or 'office out' time shall be treated as absence from duty for that day.Employees are expected to come to office by 10AM. The notification however, allows a grace period of half an hour for 'office in' timing. 

The notification further says that every employee is required to be present in the office for at least seven-and-half hours a day. Arrival at office after 11 AM irrespective of 'office out' time will lead to compulsory deduction of one day leave, the notification adds.

For preparing the monthly salary bill, the OE section will furnish the absentee statement on the basis of which salary bill will be prepared.

Salary bill of employees for September and thereafter will be prepared on the basis of new instructions.
