Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate of Police on Tuesday held a meeting with members of different political parties to raise awareness on do's and dont's during the election campaigns.

Presiding over an all-party meeting Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo said that rally, processions and public meetings should be held strictly in line with the model code of conduct.

"For any rally the political parties need to take two separate permissions from the District Election Officer and the Commissionerate of Police. Any violation will be dealt strongly," Sahoo said.

Earlier, the Twin City police had issued an advisory listing the guidelines during poll campaigns.

As per the guidelines, the routes approved by the administration for rallies should be followed strictly and the roadshows shall not cover the roads beyond the prescribed limit. The rallies should be taken without causing traffic jams while ensuring safety of general public and smooth movement of traffic.
