Bhubaneswar: Under the Awas Yojana (Urban Housing Mission) of the State Government, Odisha Chief Minister NaveenPatnaik today gave away pucca house entitlement certificates to 10000 slum dwellers.

He also laid foundation stones for the projects worth Rs 13,000 crore. In his address, the Chief Minister said, “I’m always with you (people), with the poor people. I’m working for you and have kept my promises given to you.”

“We are giving all sorts of rights to the slum dwellers. Today, 10000 slum dwellers were given away rights certificates under the Awas Mission in its first phase.”

“The happiness of the poor is my immense pleasure,” the Odisha Chief Minister averred.

Talking to media, former BMC Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena informed, “Today 8665 slum dwellers were distributed commitment letters. 110 slum dwellers were also today given away houses starting from Patharbandh to Mahisakhal areas. Foundation stones were laid for housing projects at seven places. The construction work of the houses will be over by 2022 and the people will live in them.”

He further informed, “762 SHGs were also given Rs 10,000 revolving fund each. 16 federations were also given Rs 50,000 each. Each of the 200 SHGs were given Rs 1 lakh interest-free loan.”

“These are all the dream projects of the Chief Minister. Lots of projects worth Rs 13,000 crore have been done. Phasewise all the slum dwellers will be benefitted,” Jena stated.

Bhubaneswar (North) MLA Priyadarshi Mishra informed, “In 2017, property right was granted to the slum dwellers in the Assembly by the State Government. Lots of houses are being constructed under the Awas Yojana. Those who have got it, the house key has already been handed over. Whatever promise was made by the Chief Minister, he has kept it. Hence, we owe our heartfelt gratefulness to the Chief Minister.”

House owner Sarat Mohanty in his reactions said, “I’m extremely happy that Naveen Babu gave us house. I’m spending a happy life in that house with my family. Previously, I used to reside in Mahisakhal for the last 40 years.”

One recipient of the house entitlement Alekha Chandra Barik said, “Today the project of 30 slums was laid foundations by Naveen Patnaikji. In near future, it will be implemented. It is beneficial to us because we are unable to afford Rs 22-23 lakh to construct a house. Under this Awas Yojana, we are paying Rs 1.30 lakh and getting in return property of Rs 22 lakh.”

On the occasion at Janata Maidan here, the Chief Minister also launched a Unified Portal in order to give people and visitors of Bhubaneswar a complete digital solution for accessing the city's multiple services and letting them know about important and interesting information.

The Bhubaneswar.me Unified Portal, developed under the Bhubaneswar Smart City Project, was launched by the Chief Minister.

The Bhubaneswar.me Unified Portal has been designed to be user-friendly, carrying generic information about the city as well as links providing details regarding services offered that can be availed by people.
