Bhubaneswar: A day after the Governor’s address of the Budget Session of Odisha Assembly, discussion on the Governor’s address through a motion of thanks was moved by Government Chief Whip Amar Prasad Satpathy, but pandemonium marred the House proceedings pertaining to the raging CBI and chit fund issue as well as the farmers’ issues.

Soon after the House assembled for the second day, an obituary reference was made on the passing away of ex-minister of Odisha Late Shri Harihar Karan.

As uproarious scene was created both by the opposition BJP and Congress, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat had to adjourn the House proceedings repeatedly and eventually he had to adjourn the business till tomorrow.

In his media reactions later on, BJP MLA Padeep Purohit said, “CBI has taken up the responsibility of probing into chit fund scam under the supervision of Supreme Court. We are hopeful that the guilty will be punished very soon and also the chit fund victims of Odisha will get justice.”

Senior Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati burst, “The demand of Congress party is farm loan waiver, declare extra Rs 600 for paddy MSP per quintal. Also provide employment to the children of the farmers or give them each unemployment allowance of Rs 3,500 each.”

He added, “We from the very beginning today, demanded the safety and security of the farmers in Odisha.”

Senior BJD MLA Pushpendra Singhdeo reacted, “It is saddening to note that the House proceedings are being affected. Whatever needs to be discussed in the House is not being done by the opposition. It is unfortunate to note that the opposition parties are stalling the House. General public wants that all the issues should be discussed in the House so that they are benefitted, but the opposition parties are least bothered about.”
