Odisha Assembly Budget Session: BJD To Highlight Centre's Negligence

Bhubaneswar: With last session of the 15th Assembly to commence from February 4, the BJD has planned to target the Centre over issues such as Mahanadi water row, Polavaram dam, revision of coal royalty and slash in Central assistance.

Addressing mediapersons after chairing BJD legislature Party meeting here, Chief Minister and party supremo Naveen Patnaik said, "Our party is prepared to discuss everything openly and democratically. We will also bring forward our achievements during this term and the failure of the central government in many affairs like Mahanadi, Polavaram, the cutting of funds, etc."

The inaugural session of the Odisha Assembly will be addressed by Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal. A motion of thanks on the Governor's address will be moved and passed after a debate on it on February 5 and 6, informed Parliamentary Affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh.

He further said, the annual budget of 2019-2020 will be tabled in the Odisha Assembly on February 7 and a motion on Vote on Account will be moved and passed. Further on February 8, the Appropriation Bill on the Vote on Account will be tabled in the House.

Reportedly, 73 legislators had attended the meeting today. The budget session will conclude on February 12 with seven working days, of which there will be six government working days and one private working day. There will be two government holidays on February 9 and 10.
