Bhubaneswar: Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro today adjourned the House till 3 PM following ruckus by Opposition members.

The Speaker adjourned the House as members of the Congress and BJP created uproar and rushed into the well of the House demanding a discussion on harassment of women having crossed all limits in Odisha by cancelling Question Hour.

The BJP had given a notice for an adjournment motion on the subject of harassment of women having crossed all limits in Odisha.

The Speaker had accepted the notice and directed the government to place its reply before the House during Zero hour.

Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra was to place the reply on behalf of the government.

Leader of Congress Legislative Party (CLP) Narasingha Mishra rose from his seat and requested the Speaker that since it was an important issue the adjournment motion should be taken up immediately by cancelling Question Hour.

However, the proposal was rejected by the Speaker who said that proper norm should be followed.

Not satisfied with the Speaker's reply, Congress members were the first to rush into the well of the House protesting against the Speaker's action to be later joined by BJP members.

Following the uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House till 3 PM.

Notably, the Speaker had earlier asked members not to rush into the well of the House and should place their opinion by rising from their respective seats.
