Cuttack: Sanjay Behera, son of former secretary of Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) Asirbad Behera was on Friday declared elected as the sports body's secretary.

"Members those who have voted for me have given a befitting reply to those who had conspired against my father and put him in jail," said a beaming Sanjay speaking to the media after his victory in the OCA election.

Asirbad currently is in judicial custody over his alleged complicity in the Artha Tatwa (AT) Group scam.

On being asked what his plans for cricket in Odisha were, Sanjay stated that he has a blueprint and vision for development of cricket in the State and added that residential academies will be established for different age groups.

On the other hand, while Bikash Pradhan has been elected as the treasurer of OCA, Mehtab Khan has been declared elected as the joint secretary and Pankaj Lochan Mohanty as the president of the sports body.

This is the first OCA election to be held after the implementation of the Supreme Court-approved Justice Rajendra Mal Lodha committee recommendations to overhaul cricket administration in the country.

Sanjay's father beleaguered Asirbad had today cast his vote in the OCA election through postal ballot.

Asirbad, who was arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Artha Tatwa chit fund scam and is in Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar following rejection of his bail plea is currently undergoing treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

Asirbad who is above 70 years of age has served the OCA for a cumulative period of over nine years. He had to quit his post in February 2017 in the backdrop of Lodha Committee recommendations.
