Malkangiri: In a tragic incident, a minor girl got killed while 2 others were missing when a boat capsized in the Sileru river of Kurumanur Gram Panchayat (GP) under Chitrakonda police station limits on the Andhra-Odisha border here in the district.

The mishap took place in the bordering area of Andhra Pradesh yesterday.

Sileru police informed that two persons have been rescued while search operation is on to trace and fish out others.

According to police, the mishap took place when 5 persons from the Bangali camp were on their way to Mangampodu.

Yesterday, Sati Babu, his wife Parbati and their 2-year-old Dibyashree were returning home in a country boat from Sileru ‘haat’ (market). Two other women Palasi Bulamma and B. Krishna Beni had also boarded the fateful boat when midway it capsized amid thunderstorm.

Unfortunately, Dibyashree got drowned while her parents could luckily be rescued.

On the other hand, the women passengers Bulamma and Krishna Beni were missing and search operation was stated to be on.
