Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Thursday considering the long queues for pollution test allowed 'pollution under control' (PUC) test to continue in both offline and online mode till December 31 this year. The validity of PUC Certificate will remain valid till its expiry.
The Transport department on Thursday issued a circular to all Collectors, Superintendents of Police (SPs)/Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) and Regional Transport Officers (RTOs) in this connection.
The circular says that it has come to the notice of government that there is some apprehension among general public regarding obtaining of Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) for their vehicles while admitting that very limited number of Pollution Testing Units (PTUs) exist in many districts and there are long queues.
The circular further says that taking the above issues into consideration it has been decided that PUCCs will continue to be issued by both online and offline mode till December 31, 2019.
Besides, PUCCs already obtained through online and offline mode will remain valid till the expiry date indicated in the PUCC, the circular stated.
The circular has asked the addressees that PTUs be requested to update their units from offline to online mode and adequate awareness may be made among the public for obtaining the required documents by the timeline.
