Bhubaneswar: With few more days left for the monsoon to hit Odihsa, Housing and Urban Development Department Minister, Pratap Jena today conducted an assessment on the condition of all major drains in Bhubaneswar.

Jena was accompanied by Bhubaneswar MLA Ananta Jena, Municipal Commissioner Samarth Verma, senior BMC and NHAI officials.

"I was on a field visit to the drains and the locations vulnerable to water logging. The NHAI is primarily responsible for the water logging. We have requested them with a date-line for cleaning the drains both underground and open drains," the Minister said.

Jena, who was Mayor of Bhubaneswar for a decade, said that alternative options have been explored and implemented to tackle the water logging infront of ISKCON Temple and Acharya Vihar square.

"The NHAI has told us that within 15 days the issues affecting stormwater disposal at Jaydev Vihar square will be tackled," Jena said.
