Bhubaneswar: Agitating farmers, including women, defied prohibitory orders (Section 144) at Tamando and entered the capital city here today to attend their mega convention in Lower PMG here.

Deployed police personnel were seen attempting to prevent the farmers from entering Bhubaneswar.

Demanding ‘price’, ‘prestige’ and ‘pension’, the convention is being organised under the aegis of Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS).

Despite Section 144 of CrPC (prohibitory orders) clamped in Tamando area on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, a large number of farmers was seen breaking the police cordon and managed to enter Bhubaneswar to join their convention today

Pressing for their long-standing demands of ‘price’, ‘prestige’ and ‘pension’, the NNKS has launched its eight-day-long ‘Jan Satyagraha Padayatra’ from October 29.
