Odisha: BJD's Sambalpur LS Candidate Nalini Pradhan's Nomination Found Valid Despite Office Of Profit Allegation

06 April 2019

Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal's candidate for Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat Nalini Kant Pradhan's nomination was found valid today after scrutiny by Returning Officer. His nomination was scrutinised after BJP’s candidate Nitesh Ganga Deb challenged Pradhan's candidature on Friday accusing him of holding ‘Office of Profit.’

Following the accusations, Pradhan’s nomination paper scrutiny was scheduled for 10:45 am on Saturday. After the hearing today, Returning Officer decided to accept the nomination of Pradhan.

After the verdict, Nitesh Ganga Deb has alleged that the hearing was conducted illegally and he will take the matter to High Court.

Notably on March 1 this year, former Secretary of Works Department Nalini Kanta Pradhan had joined the ruling BJD and soon after, he was fielded as LS candidate from Sambalpur.
