Odisha: Accused Dies In Court ‘Fearing Rejection Of Bail’

Kendrapada: A young mason who was accused of illegal fishing at Badatota village in 2015 died on the premises of the SDJM court allegedly due to a heart attack.

The deceased, Abhay Mallick and 34 other’s bail plea was to be heard by the SDJM today. However, apprehending that his bail might get rejected, Abhay fell unconscious and choked in the court campus.

He was rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. Abhay died due to a heart attack, the doctors said.

The youth was facing charges in a case of illegal fishing at the Bagadia nullah in Mahakalpada. The case was filed three years back in 2015.

Abhay’s lawyer said that he had already filed the bail petition and his case was about to be heard, when the mishap took place. Abhay was a landless peasant, who used to work as a mason in Badatota village.
