Odisha: A Day After Quitting BJD, Morada MLA Joins BJP

Kalahandi: A day after quitting the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), sitting MLA from Morada constituency Praveen Chandra Bhanjdeo joined the saffron party BJP here today.

Taking part in the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Sankalp Rally in Bhawanipatana, Praveen was inducted into the national party today. Congress' district President from Jharsuguda Girish Ranjan Panda also joined BJP in the same programme. Former Kalahandi MP Subash Nayak and Dharmagarh's ex-MLA Jugaram Behera joined the saffron party too.

It is notable to mention here that Praveen Chandra Bhanjdeo had quit the party on Monday evening. He tendered his resignation as the district President of Mayurbhanj and also resigned from the primary membership of the party.

He had been elected MLA with a BJD ticket from Morada in 2009 and 2014 as well. He also held the post of Sports & Youth Affairs Minister in his first term.
